    Boat Name Contest

    Powercating members,

Welcome to the boat name contest.  This is the first of many activities we plan for the site. so check back often.

Here is how the contest is going to work.  Post a reply to this post to enter your boat name.  Include the following in your post.

    • boat name
    • type of boat
    • the explanation of why your boat name is best

There is no particular definition of "best", so enter your name and make a convincing argument as to why it is the best name for a power catamaran.  We will leave the thread open for two weeks from the initial name submission at which point ten names will be selected as the finalists and a poll will be posted for everyone to come back and vote on the name they like best.  The winner will be announced after two weeks of voting.

    Have fun Smile [:)]

    Hey All,

My boat name is "Carolina Girl"; it's a 2005  27 foot World Cat Express Cabin.

My wife and I live at the Crystal Coast of North Carolina and my wife is a graduate of the University of North Carolina so pretty easy to see where the name came from. The name is especially important to me because IT ALLOWED ME TO GET MY BOAT!

    I love my World Cat!

I gave up on trying to name the GB about 18 months ago. Nothing seemed to work.  When I need to use the ship to shore I identify myself most of the time as the Glacier Bay, (graphics came with the boatGeeked [8-|])  if I'm offshore I use "The Canyon Runner" ( these graphics also came with the boatCool [H])  or the No Name Cat..when I'm up to no goodConfused [8-)]. Works for me and keeps me incognito.Wink [;)]

    Flybuoy

    Worldcat330TE

I'm a USAF pilot (a "flyboy") who likes the water so I changed "boy" to "buoy" for a nautical touch.  It's the best name for a cat because it has nothing to do with cats...couldn't bring myself to call the boat anything with cat, ***, gato, feline, etc...to many others already do this and I wanted to be a little original.  I have never seen another FlyBuoy, though I'm sure there are a few out there.

    My boat's name is

    Reel-purrfection.

    It is a 266SC model

I really had a hard deciding between Reel-purrfection and just

Purrfection.  I should have named it Miss Melinda III after my beautiful wife of 43 years.  I did honor her with my last two boats but Reel-purrfection had to be it for obvious reasons.

    Reel Purrfection,

Has your boat been to OC Maryland?  I think I saw one there with that name.

My Worldcat 270TE is named Family Ties.  The whole family (Parents, brothers, nephews, nieces).  Something we all enjoy doing together.  Thus the name.

    Re: Boat Name Contest

Well, looks as if I have another "Catting" website to look at. Now I will reduce my daily 25 visits a day at the Worldcat Owners Forum. Regardless, I have a 2005 Worldcat 270SD. The name I chose for my boat is "FORTUNA". The reasons are as follows:

    1. Being a second generation Proud Italian, Fortuna means "luck" in Italian.
    2. I like the name due to the obvious fishing nature (for tuna)
    3. When I was a kid, I loved the old black and white movies and one in particular was a 1943 Movie named "Mr. Lucky", starring Cary Grant and Lorraine Day. In the movie Cary Grant played a lucky gambler and had a Yacht named "Fortuna.
    4. The last and best reason is that because I have a great wife, four daughters and nine healthy grandchildren, i consider myself 'the luckiest guy in the world"

I have a website of family and boating photos, everyone is welcome to take a look; www,rjlauricella.com

Well, there you have it, I boat out of Lighthouse Point, Forida, keep your eyes open for me as I will for you.

    Re: Boat Name Contest

    Hi, Powercating members.

    My boat is named Cattywampus.

It is a 2003 World Cat 250 DC with DF 140 Suzuki engines.

I run the boat in South Haven, MI and Belvedere Island GA, about 30 miles south of Savannah.

I think the name Cattywampus is descriptive of the type of boat it is and is attention grabbing, not to mention unusual.

I think that Powercating is going to be a great forum for information on power catamarans.

    Re: Boat Name Contest

My reason is very similar to Carolina Cat with minor differences.

Boat Name:  "Lori B", 2005 World Cat 250SF, 140 Suzikis, Garmin 3010C w/XW Weather, jack plates, windlass, and so on.....

My wife (Lori Beth) and I are pretty much financially independent of one another.  I pay the mortgage, she pays for her hair appointments.  I pay the utilities, she pays for her nail appointments.  I pay for food.  She pays for her clothes.  You probably get the picture by now.  Wink [;)]

Anyway, I bought the boat new around the first week in July.  Like I said, I didn't name it the "Lori B" so I could BUY it, I named it the "Lori B" so I could USE it.  Cool [H]
