I bought a world cat 270 hts with twin diesels and it was an absolute lemon. Probably the worst part in the whole process was the rotten way the company treated me and how they would not stand behind the manufacturing defect and fix my boat correctly. I have since talked to 2 other owners with the same model and the company treated them in the same shabby way. World Cat dodged their responsibility by trying to pass the buck onto Volvo, when it was a design flaw from the factory. If it were me I would consider a different manufacturer and get lists of happy and unhappy customers. I told Andrew Brown who owns WC that I would never, ever, ever buy another one of their boats because of how they treated me. You might google "Scandal by World Cat" and see what you find. If you want an indestructible catamaran check out Maxweld Maxcat......these are real rough water boats.

I bought a 2004 Worldcat 270TE and it has been a very positive experience.  I had a complete electrical system failure in my first year of ownership while on a two week vacation and the WC suport team was very responsive and saved my vacation by working with me and the manufacturer to make sure I had the parts I needed.  The boat has been a great fishing vessel for several years now.

I guess there are two sides to every coin Big Smile

I suggest you consider what your needs are and go with a manufacturer that caters to them.

All of the boat biulders that used that Volvo engine package got shafted by Volvo who told them the engine was designed to run in a small compartment with a small amount of air going to it.

Then when the biulders all had issues Volvo would not step up to the plate as they had Promised. Everyone in the industry had issues with those engine packages.

As for World Cat they have been the most stable of all of the companies while constantly evolving to biuld a better productand with lots of satisfied customers.

As for the 33TE go run all 3 in a 4ft swell with 2ft of mixed chop then you will see why you will love the way a cat runs so well at 28knots and is so stabile trolling in that sea.

Problems where with the motors on the Volvo set up

its a black eye for volvo .I think its unfair to blame world cat for that mess

I wish i could find one of those boats at the rite price I would like to redo the transom and put some out boards on there would be a interesting project I bet we could realy make one of those RUN with bracketed motors  the out board vershion of the Ht was great will allways wonder how fast you could get one of them to run if you moved the motors back and up on a bracket

    Its all about having FUN!

If you are interested in a quality boat where emphasis is placed on the hull and stringer system to produce maximized strength and durability you might consider looking at some 30' Hydrocat's.  The company is in business out of Texas focusing on producing a quality boat you could own for 15 years with out problems and then re-power to give you the same new powerful boat you originally purchased.  Hydrocat's are a custom boat with the buyers interest being paramount designed and manufactured to give you the assurance that when you take one out to 60 or 80 in 10 foot seas you will have no structural malfunctions.  My name is Chris Griffith, my e-mail is chris.b.griffith@gmail.com, and I would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you if you are interested.
